Day 17: From Oppression to Liberation: A Journey of Faith and Divine Intervention

Updated: Dec 26, 2025

Welcome. We hope you are enjoying The Glory Team Bible Reading plan and the book of Exodus. In Chapters 5-7, Moses and Aaron approach Pharaoh, delivering God's message to let the Israelites go and worship in the wilderness; however, Pharaoh stubbornly refuses, not only denying their request but also increasing the Israelites' workload, demonstrating his defiance against God's command. To further solidify his power, God empowers Moses and Aaron with signs, including turning Aaron's staff into a snake and turning the Nile River to blood, as a warning to Pharaoh and a display of divine authority, but Pharaoh remains unmoved.

Exodus 5: Moses and Aaron approach Pharaoh, delivering God's command to let the Israelites go worship in the wilderness; however, Pharaoh defiantly refuses, instead increasing the burdens placed upon the Israelites, further oppressing them and setting the stage for the upcoming plagues as God works to deliver his people from Egyptian slavery

Exodus 6: God reaffirms his covenant with the Israelites, promising to deliver them from Egyptian slavery and bring them to the promised land, revealing himself to Moses as "I AM" and emphasizing his power to fulfill this promise; the chapter also details the lineage of Moses and Aaron, outlining the leaders who will guide the Israelites out of Egypt.

Exodus 7: God instructs Moses and Aaron to go before Pharaoh and demand the release of the Israelites, using a miraculous sign by turning their staff into a snake to demonstrate God's power; however, Pharaoh's magicians replicate the feat, hardening his heart and refusing to let the Israelites go, leading to the first plague where the Nile River is turned to blood, further signifying God's power and Pharaoh's defiance.
