Welcome to Day 361 of The Glory Team Bible Reading Plan.
Revelation chapters 4–7 shift the reader from earthly churches to a heavenly courtroom where God reigns in absolute authority. These chapters reveal that history unfolds under God’s sovereign control, not chaos or chance. John is invited into heaven to witness worship around God’s throne, the worthiness of Christ, the opening of the seals that unleash judgment on the earth, and the assurance that God knows and preserves His people through it all. While the seals bring judgment, suffering, and upheaval, the vision repeatedly emphasizes that God remains just, purposeful, and merciful. These chapters prepare believers to understand that judgment and salvation move together—God confronts evil while securing redemption for those who belong to Him.
Revelation 4
Chapter 4 opens with John being summoned into heaven, where he sees a throne set in heaven with God seated upon it, emphasizing God’s supreme authority and kingship. The imagery of precious stones, lightning, thunder, and voices reflects God’s holiness, majesty, and power, echoing Old Testament descriptions of divine presence. Surrounding the throne are twenty-four elders, symbolizing the redeemed people of God, and four living creatures who continually worship, declaring God’s eternal holiness. The scene is saturated with worship, showing that heaven’s primary activity is honoring God as Creator. This chapter establishes that before judgment unfolds, God is already reigning. Everything that follows proceeds from His throne, not human decision or demonic power.
Revelation 5
In chapter 5, attention shifts to a scroll sealed with seven seals, representing God’s sovereign plan for judgment and redemption. Initially, no one is found worthy to open the scroll, causing John to weep because without it, God’s purposes would remain unfulfilled. The crisis is resolved when the Lamb—Jesus Christ—appears, described as slain yet standing, signifying His victory through sacrificial death. Christ alone is worthy because He redeemed people by His blood from every nation, tribe, and language. Heaven erupts in worship, affirming that Christ’s authority flows from His obedience and sacrifice. This chapter reveals Jesus as both Savior and Judge, fully qualified to enact God’s plan for history.
Revelation 6
Chapter 6 records the opening of the first six seals, each unleashing events that affect the earth. The first four seals release the Four Horsemen, symbolizing conquest, war, famine, and death—realities that expose the fragility of human power and peace. The fifth seal reveals martyrs crying out for justice, showing that suffering believers are seen, heard, and remembered by God. The sixth seal brings cosmic disturbances—earthquakes, darkened skies, and terror—signifying divine judgment and the shaking of all false security. Humanity responds with fear, recognizing the “wrath of the Lamb,” yet many still do not repent. This chapter teaches that judgment is not random but purposeful, revealing both human rebellion and God’s righteousness.
Revelation 7
Chapter 7 serves as an interlude of hope before further judgment unfolds. God seals 144,000 servants from the tribes of Israel, symbolizing divine ownership, protection, and intentional preservation of His people. This sealing does not remove believers from suffering but marks them as belonging to God amid tribulation. John then sees a great multitude from every nation standing before the throne, clothed in white robes, having come out of great tribulation. Their presence confirms that salvation is global and God’s promises are fulfilled despite persecution. The chapter closes with reassurance that God will shepherd His people, wipe away every tear, and bring eternal comfort, emphasizing that judgment never has the final word—God’s redemption does.
