Welcome. We hope you are enjoying The Glory Team Bible Reading plan and the book of Exodus. In Chapters 8-10, detail a series of plagues inflicted upon Egypt by God through Moses, including frogs, lice, and swarms of flies, aimed at compelling Pharaoh to release the Israelites; despite the growing distress, Pharaoh's heart remains hardened, leading to repeated pleas for the plagues to be lifted only to renege on his promises once relief arrives, demonstrating God's power over creation and Pharaoh's stubborn defiance against divine authority, with the plagues becoming increasingly severe as the narrative progresses towards the ultimate confrontation.
Exodus 8: Details the second set of plagues inflicted upon Egypt by God through Moses, including a plague of frogs, lice, and swarms of flies, aimed at pressuring Pharaoh to release the Israelites from slavery; each plague sees Pharaoh initially agreeing to let the people go when the plague becomes unbearable, but then hardening his heart and refusing once the plague is lifted, further demonstrating God's power over creation and Pharaoh's stubborn resistance to obey God's commands.
Exodus 9: God instructs Moses to warn Pharaoh that if he refuses to let the Israelites go, a devastating plague of hail will strike Egypt, killing livestock and crops in the open fields. When Pharaoh remains stubborn, Moses stretches out his staff, causing thunder, hail, and fire to rain down upon the land, with the hail being so severe that it destroys everything exposed, yet miraculously sparing the area where the Israelites live. This plague further demonstrates God's power and intensifies the pressure on Pharaoh to release the Israelites.
Exodus 10: details the ninth plague sent by God to Egypt, a plague of locusts, further pressuring Pharaoh to release the Israelites; despite the devastation caused by the locusts, Pharaoh remains stubborn and refuses to let the people go, leading to God hardening his heart even more so that the signs of God's power will be clearly demonstrated through these plagues, culminating in Moses warning Pharaoh that if he does not comply, a thick darkness will cover Egypt for three days.
