Day 48 - Trusting God's Lead: Strength for the Journey Ahead

Welcome to Day 48 of The Glory Team Bible Reading plan and we are beginning the book of Deuteronomy. In Chapters 1-3, serve as a retrospective speech by Moses to the Israelites, recounting their journey from Egypt to the borders of the Promised Land, emphasizing God's faithfulness throughout their time in the wilderness while also highlighting their past disobedience and the consequences of not following God's commands; the primary focus is to remind the new generation about to enter the land of the importance of remembering God's past deeds and remaining obedient to His laws in order to inherit the promised land successfully. 

In Deuteronomy Chapter 1, marks the beginning of Moses' farewell speech to the Israelites, where he recounts their journey from Mount Sinai to the borders of the Promised Land, emphasizing their history and reminding them of God's covenant with them; in this chapter, Moses details how he appointed judges from each tribe to lead the people and describes the incident where the Israelites sent spies into Canaan, only to be discouraged by their report, leading to God's judgment against them for their lack of faith.  

In Deuteronomy Chapter 2, recounts the Israelites' journey through the wilderness as they approach the Promised Land, detailing how God instructed them to avoid conflict with the Edomites and Moabites, descendants of Esau and Lot respectively, as they traveled around Mount Seir and crossed the Zered Brook, marking the end of their wandering period and the death of the older generation who had disobeyed God; this chapter emphasizes God's provision and guidance throughout their long journey, highlighting the consequences of disobedience and the need for obedience to His commands. 

In Deuteronomy Chapter 3, recounts the Israelites' conquest of the land of Bashan, specifically defeating Og, its giant king, and his people, taking possession of his 60 cities. The chapter highlights the complete annihilation of Og's army, emphasizing God's power and the Israelites' obedience. Notably, the text includes details about Og's large bed, further describing his immense size. This chapter serves as a continuation of the historical narrative, showcasing the Israelites' military success as they prepared to enter the Promised Land.
